MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR

 

 

 

 

TO: ALL SAGAY WATER DISTRICT CONSUMERS

SUBJECT: TAMPERING OF WATER METERS/ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS

 

 

                        Our on-going water meter inspection and meter resealing program has revealed rampant tampering of water meters,as well as water pilfering .

 

 

                         In view of the foregoing malpractices which are in violation of a certain provisions of PD 198,our Board of Directors was constrained to adopt as a policy the following set of rules and regulations:

 

                         Breaking of water meter seals:

 

                                        Penalty for 1st offense: P10.00 as resealing fee

                                        Penalty for 2nd offense: P50.00 as resealing fee

                                        Penalty for 3rd offense: Disconnection of Water Service

                          Illegal Water Connection, tampering of water meter and pilfering of waster (illegal drawing of water from the district water supply system)

 

 

                        These illegal acts are punishable in accordance with the provisions of PD 401, namely: “that any person, upon conviction, be punished by TWO THOUSAND to SIX THOUSAND Pesos, or both. If the violation is committed with the connivance or permission of an employee or officer of the district, such employee or officer shall upon conviction, be punished by a penalty one degree lower than prison correctional, in its minimum period and forth-with be dismissed and perpetually disqualified from employment in any public or private utility or service company.

 

 

                       We advise you; therefore to safeguard the properties of your water district installed in your premises particularly the water meters and their corresponding seals. If you will please note, this is one of your obligations under the Contract you signed with this district, particularly paragraph Seven (7) thereof.
