HISTORY OF SAGAY WATER DISTRICT
Before the advent of the Water District, the then Municipality of Sagay had two (2) seperate water system operating in the there (3) of its largest barangays namely: Old Sagay, Poblacion, and Paraiso.
The water supply system in Poblacion and Old Sagay was contructed in 1941 by the local government unit. It utilized a well source located about 1.5 kilometers north of the Poblaqcion. The system also had a 400 cubic meter elevated Concreted Reservior located adjacent to the well source.
The water supply in Paraiso was established in 1957 by the now defunct National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA). The system used a 420 cubic meter Concrete Ground Reservior about 30 meters higher in elevation than the service area.
Other facilities of the original water supply system included the transmission and distribution lines, valves, fire hydrants, and service connections.
In 1961, another well source was added to the Poblacion-Old Sagay system drilled at the poblacion proper. Then again in 1977, another well source was drilled in Municipal Slaughterhouse to augment the supply and cope up with the increasing demand.
